Bible study group 'What it says' |
Many people say that they have a working knowledge of the bible through daily reading and church services. But it can be helpful to gain an overview of the whole bible through a regular and systematic structure of reading and study. What it says provides a synoptic study, avoiding detailed consideration and seeking rather to gain a broad understanding of the message and context of each of the 66 books. So we are concerned to look at both the message of each passage and also briefly at an outline of its geographic, historic, social and political background, in an objective and open-minded way rather than from any particular angle or bias. Beginning at page one, we will proceed due east until we reach the end! The overriding aim of the group is to be better equipped as a result of a fuller understanding of one of the Christian's greatest resourcesknowing what it says. Unlike a kinship group, this is a study group, rather than a relational group where pastoral care is offered. |
